It's time to talk about that dreaded new year's resolutions list. You may have already set some (or already broken some) but we want to challenge you to think outside the box. Rather than focusing on how you can better yourself, think about how you can better the world around you.

Explore Your Country

Whether you live in Canada or Colombia, make it your 2018 mission to get out and explore your own backyard. Take a weekend trip to that national park you've been meaning to check out. Or perhaps, explore a neighbourhood that you never have. Go on, take a step towards adventure.

Fun fact: If you want to explore our homeland (Canada), check out Destination Canada's Keep Exploring website where you'll find a ton of tips and facts about exploring Canada.

Volunteer

There are so many amazing organizations that rely on volunteers. Do some research and find an organization that you admire. Reach out to a representative and chat about volunteer opportunities.

Fun fact: 1.1 million full-time equivalent jobs are represented by volunteering annually (c/o https://www.salvationarmy.ca/blog/10-volunteering-facts-that-may-surprise-you/

Go Local

This shift has been happening for quite some time but supporting local businesses is a great way to show some love to your community.

Fun fact: Dish & DUER is designed locally right in the heart of Gastown. If you ever have the chance to stop by our flagship store, take a peak in the back where you'll see our design team hard at work!

Challenge Yourself

Has there always been an activity you wanted to try but consistently put it off? Now's the time to try it! Don't think twice, just give it a go.

Fun fact: If you're not sure where to start when it comes to challenging yourself, take a look at this list from Global Adventure Challenges.

So, there you have it. We hope that these suggestions help kick-start your 2018 - you've got this!
